Can You Print USCIS Forms Double-Sided? No. Plus October's Changes
Your form is filled out, your documents are in a folder, and the last step is paper. Here is how to print and send a USCIS package so the paper isn't the reason it comes back.
No, you can't print USCIS forms double-sided. USCIS says every form and every supporting document must be single-sided, standard 8½ x 11-inch letter-size pages. Two other things changed this month. New fees apply to some requests postmarked on or after Oct. 16, 2026. And on Oct. 7, USCIS moved the mail filing location for 10 forms, including the I-765 and the I-131.
We checked every USCIS page linked below on October 9, 2026. We print and ship. We don't give immigration or legal advice, and we don't fill out, review, or choose forms or fees for anyone. If you aren't sure which form or fee is yours, use the USCIS Fee Calculator or ask an immigration attorney or an accredited representative.
What changed in October 2026
New fees for requests postmarked on or after Oct. 16
USCIS announced on Sept. 30 that a small inflation increase to certain fees takes effect Oct. 16, 2026. The official notice is Federal Register document 2026-20187, published Oct. 1. USCIS says any request postmarked on or after Oct. 16 without the proper fee will be rejected.
These are the changes USCIS lists in its fee alert:
| Fee | Postmarked before Oct. 16 | Postmarked Oct. 16 or later |
|---|---|---|
| Annual Asylum Fee | $102 | $105 |
| Form I-131, Immigration Parole Fee | $1,020 | $1,050 |
| Form I-765, initial EAD for an asylum applicant, parole, or TPS | $560 | $570 |
| Form I-821, Temporary Protected Status | $510 | $520 |
The date that matters is the postmark, not the day you printed or signed. If your package is in the mail on Oct. 15 and gets an Oct. 15 postmark, the older amount applies. If it goes out on Oct. 16, the new amount applies. These figures cover only the fees in that table. Other fees on the same form may be separate, so check the Fee Calculator for your exact filing.
New mailing addresses for 10 forms since Oct. 7
On Oct. 7, 2026, USCIS changed where you mail these forms:
- I-765, Application for Employment Authorization
- I-131, Application for Travel Documents, Parole Documents, and Arrival/Departure Records
- I-539, Application to Extend/Change Nonimmigrant Status
- I-601, Application for Waiver of Grounds of Inadmissibility
- I-360, Petition for Amerasian, Widow(er), or Special Immigrant
- I-290B, Notice of Appeal or Motion
- I-212, Application for Permission to Reapply for Admission
- I-192, Application for Advance Permission to Enter as a Nonimmigrant
- I-102, Application for Replacement/Initial Nonimmigrant Arrival-Departure Document
- I-824, Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition
USCIS is giving a 30-day grace period. A form postmarked on or before Nov. 9, 2026 that goes to any earlier filing address will still be accepted, according to the Filing Locations Updates page. After that, a package sent to an old address can be slowed down or rejected and sent back.
That's the reason we don't print lockbox addresses here. They change, and they depend on your reason for filing. Open your form's own "Where to File" page on the day you mail, for example the I-765 filing addresses or the I-131 filing addresses. Copy the address from that page, not from a friend's old envelope or a saved screenshot.
Online filing is growing
USCIS has said it will soon require online filing for many forms. A rule that took effect Aug. 11, 2026 lets USCIS make a form online-only once it has been available to file online for at least 180 days, and USCIS says it will post a notice at least 60 days ahead for each form. As of Oct. 9, the Filing Locations Updates page showed no form that had become online-only. Before you print, check your form's page and the list of forms available to file online.
How to print USCIS forms so they scan cleanly
USCIS scans paper filings in black and white or grayscale. Most of the printing rules exist so the scanner can read every line. From the Tips for Filing Forms by Mail and Downloading and Printing Immigration Forms pages:
- Download the current edition from uscis.gov. Forms are free there. Don't pay another website for a blank form.
- Fill it out in Adobe Acrobat Reader, not inside your web browser. USCIS recommends saving the PDF to your computer and opening it in the free Reader, because browser viewers can break fillable forms.
- Print one side only, on 8½ x 11 letter paper. This applies to the form and to every supporting copy.
- Check the bottom of every page. The edition date and page numbers must show, and every page must come from the same edition. A missing page or a page from an older edition can get the whole form rejected.
- Handwriting goes in black ink. If you type, USCIS asks for Courier New, size 10, bold.
- Made a mistake? Print a fresh form. No correction fluid, no correction tape, and no highlighter. Gray or highlighted text doesn't scan well.
- Sign by hand. USCIS won't accept a typed or stamped name in place of a signature.
- Don't print an online form to mail it. If you started the form in your USCIS online account, finish it online. USCIS rejects printouts of online-account forms sent to a lockbox, and it says never to mail a form you already filed online.
Copies of your documents
USCIS wants legible copies of your official documents, not the originals, unless the form instructions ask for an original. Originals that weren't requested may not come back. A legible copy is not blurry or faded, has no streaks or toner lines, isn't crooked or upside down, and doesn't cut off any text because of a fold.
Anything not in English needs a complete English translation with the translator's certification, per the same USCIS page. Skip binders, photo albums, and heavy-duty staples. If you include photos, put your name on the back.
Where can I print immigration forms in Monroe?
You can print them at The Mail Station's walk-in printing counter. We make black-and-white and color prints and copies, and we print single-sided when you ask.
You can get your files to us three ways:
- Email the finished PDF to print@mailstationmonroe.com.
- Bring a flash drive to the counter.
- Open the file on your phone when you get here.
Send the PDF you filled out and saved, not the blank form. Tell us "single-sided, letter size," and look over the pages before you leave: the edition date and page numbers at the bottom, every page there, nothing cut off. We can also copy the supporting documents you bring, like a birth certificate, passport pages, or a prior USCIS notice, so the originals go home with you.
We won't read your answers or tell you whether the form is right. That part belongs to you, your attorney, or your accredited representative. Our part is clean paper and a tracked package.
FedEx or USPS: how to send it to USCIS
USCIS accepts packages through USPS, FedEx, DHL, or UPS. At The Mail Station you can send yours by FedEx or USPS.
Filing pages like the I-765's list two different addresses for the same form: one for the U.S. Postal Service and one for FedEx, UPS, and DHL deliveries. Use the one that matches the carrier you're using. A courier package addressed to a USPS-only P.O. box won't deliver the way you expect.
If you send it FedEx, don't choose Adult Signature Required. USCIS says its lockbox facilities can't accept FedEx packages sent that way. If you want a signature on delivery, choose Direct Signature Required. Tell us at the counter which signature option you want before the label prints.
Whichever carrier you choose:
- Keep the tracking number. USCIS suggests saving it with a copy of your payment form so you can confirm delivery.
- Mark the envelope and your cover letter with the type of submission, as USCIS shows, for example "Original Submission" and the form name.
- Put the package together in USCIS's suggested order. Payment form (G-1450, G-1650, or G-1651) first, then G-1145 if you're using it, then G-28 if you have a representative, then the form, any supplements, and your supporting documents.
- Forgot a document? USCIS asks you not to mail it to the lockbox in a separate package. Check the tips page for what to do instead.
We can't promise when USCIS will receive or open your package. Carriers set delivery times, and USCIS sets everything after that.
A five-minute check before you mail
Before the envelope closes, go down this list:
- The fee matches the Fee Calculator for the date your package will be postmarked.
- The address came from your form's "Where to File" page today, and it's the address for your carrier.
- Every page is single-sided, letter size, and from the same edition.
- The signature is in ink, by hand.
- You're sending copies, not originals, unless the form asks for an original.
- If it's FedEx, the label says Direct Signature Required or no signature option, never Adult Signature Required.
- You have a copy of everything you're sending, and the tracking number.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I print USCIS forms double-sided?
No. USCIS requires single-sided, standard 8½ x 11-inch letter-size pages for forms and supporting documents.
Do I have to pay the new fee if I mail my form on Oct. 15?
USCIS bases the new fees on the postmark. A request postmarked on or after Oct. 16, 2026 must include the new fee. Check the USCIS fee alert and the Fee Calculator for your filing.
I mailed my I-765 to the old address. Is that okay?
Yes, if it was postmarked on or before Nov. 9, 2026. USCIS says it will accept the 10 moved forms at any prior filing location during that grace period. After Nov. 9, use the current "Where to File" page.
Can USCIS forms go by FedEx?
Yes. USCIS accepts FedEx, UPS, DHL, and USPS. Use the courier address on your form's filing page, and choose Direct Signature Required, not Adult Signature Required, if you want a signature.
Will The Mail Station help me fill out my USCIS form?
No. We print, copy, and ship. For questions about which form, which fee, or what to answer, go to uscis.gov or an immigration attorney or accredited representative.
Do I need originals or copies?
Copies, unless the form instructions ask for an original. USCIS may not return originals it didn't ask for.
