General Delivery costs nothing, but it comes with strings most RVers don't find out about until they're standing at the counter. Here's the honest tradeoff, and when a real Monroe mailbox is worth paying for instead.
The short answer: USPS General Delivery is free and lets you pick up mail at a Post Office without a fixed address, but it's USPS-only — FedEx, UPS, and DHL won't deliver to it because it isn't a real street address in their systems. A friend or family member's address works until you need something forwarded on short notice, and now you're asking someone else to track your schedule and get to the post office on your timeline, not theirs.
